Alivia Davis

b. 1999, American

Alivia Davis (b. 1999) is a painter based in Louisiana. Her practice begins with exploration and collection in swamps and abandoned places. After periods of discovery, she collages these gathered materials and impressions into paintings. This ritual of seeking began in Florida, where as a child she caught alligators and explored landscapes that provoked both awe and fear. Over time, the act of gathering images and objects evolved into a form of emotional cartography—an external search reflecting her inner states, extended through the language of painting.

Her work engages the spiritual dimension of nature, using found materials from swamps as a symbolic language. Fantastical worlds emerge where external environments mirror the human mind and body. Predators and shadows evoke haunting presences, while tadpoles and eggs suggest inner transformation. Through this process, Davis dissects and reassembles lived experience to create fictional yet deeply personal worlds—each painting documenting her emotional landscape and the transformative power of connection with nature.

Davis holds a BFA from Florida State University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Painting at Louisiana State University. She has exhibited with the Delphian Open Call Winners Exhibition at Unit 1 Gallery, London (2025); MFA Exhibition at Barnes Ogden, Louisiana (2024); Art Deco, Florida (2024); and Abstracto: Land of Dreams, Lemoyne Arts, Florida (2024).
